Admittedly, Twitter’s huge success as it was starting out was due to the endless tweets from users who delighted in updating the world regularly about what they ate for breakfast, or what the weather is like in their parts of the world. But the service has evolved since then, and so should the content. Users must unstuck themselves from the dark ages by avoiding banalities when tweeting now. Webster’s dictionary describes “a person who takes a contrary position or attitude; specifically: an investor who buys shares of stock when most others are selling and sells when others are buying.
” The way I see it, you have to make your own path. Once you can engage in contrarian thinking it will create the opportunity for brands. What is this new fad called Twitter, and why are so many people talking about it? Twitter is a type of social networking microblogging service in which a subscribed user has 140 characters to say what they have to to the rest of the world. Often referred to as a way of sending a “text message to the world,” Twitter has grown in popularity over the past year to the point where even celebrities are using it.
Additionally, news stations such as Fox and the Today Show regularly mention Twitter in their broadcasts. One thing to understand straight away is that traditional marketing doesn’t work on Twitter. Facebook has free and paid ways to advertise and get the chiropractic message of health out to the public. The first thing you’ll want to do is to set-up a business fan page if you haven’t done so. The communication from both coaches has been mostly a one-way street, but for rabid fans of the sport, sometimes that’s all they need.
All social media is about relationship building. As soon as you start seeing other twitter users as targets and demographics as opposed to individuals, your efforts are doomed to failure. Yammer helps flatten companies in the sense that it allows information to flow more freely. But you don’t have to be a flat organisation to use Yammer. One of the features that we rolled out after launch was ‘groups’. So you can create a group for your department, your team and just have private conversations within those groups.
That the company can ultimately decide who gets to see that information is a very important part of it as well.
